What is PYCS owner training?Our Owner Training service offers a fully tailored experience designed to elevate yacht owners' knowledge and skills to a professional level. Conducted directly on the owner’s vessel, the training focuses on mastering essential skills, including: Docking and vessel control High-speed maneuvering Anchoring techniques Sail handling Mechanical Systems troubleshooting Electrical Systems troubleshooting Safety precautions and drills And any additional skills the owner wishes to refine. All training is led by licensed IYT instructors holding a minimum of an MOY 200 Unlimited certification, alongside qualifications from other esteemed maritime institutions. Our mission is to ensure every yacht owner feels confident and in command of their vessel.

How Does MOY200GT Unlimited Compare To Yachtmaster Ocean?The Master of Yachts 200 Gross Tons Unlimited (MOY200GT) and Yachtmaster Ocean certifications are both respected qualifications for yacht captains, but they differ significantly in scope, training, and the level of difficulty required to obtain them: Master of Yachts 200 Gross Tons Unlimited (MOY200GT): This certification allows captains to operate yachts up to 200 gross tons on unlimited voyages, with no distance restrictions from shore. It is more challenging to obtain due to its strict requirements and extensive training, which includes advanced skills in navigation, seamanship, safety protocols, and vessel management. Candidates must pass demanding exams that test their ability to handle various maritime challenges. This makes the MOY200GT a higher-level commercial qualification, ensuring that those who hold it are exceptionally well-prepared for complex maritime operations. Yachtmaster Ocean: The Yachtmaster Ocean certification is well-respected, it is a non-commercial qualification geared toward the recreational market, which can be commercially endorsed through an extra process. It allows captains to operate private yachts up to 24 meters (about 78 feet) in length on long-distance offshore passages. The certification is more limited in terms of vessel size and operational scope compared to the MOY200GT and focuses primarily on navigation and passage planning rather than broader vessel management. By choosing a captain with an MOY200GT certification, you benefit from their superior training and experience. These highly qualified professionals are adept at managing larger yachts and navigating complex voyages, providing you with greater peace of mind and confidence that your yacht is in expert hands.

Why Is A Yacht Delivery Needed?Yacht delivery services offer convenience by ensuring yachts are quickly and safely transported to their owner's desired location. Done by professionals that manage all the logistics, saving owners the time and effort of dealing with a time consuming or uncomfortable passage.

How Does A Yacht Delivery Work?Our yacht delivery process can be divided into Four stages: Booking: We get in contact either through our office, email, online form or call booking system. We then identify the type of delivery required, discuss key details such as the vessel, route, crew, and payment policy. From there, we provide you with a quote and create a comprehensive delivery plan. Pre-Delivery: Upon arrival, we dedicate a minimum of one day to thoroughly inspect and test all systems, safety equipment, and fittings to ensure safe operation before setting sail. Once our preparations for the passage are complete, you will receive a detailed report on the status of your vessel. During Delivery: You get a secure link to view your vessel's whereabouts and progress through our satellite tracker. and can get in contact with our captain and office 24/7. Delivery Completion: Once your vessel is securely moored at the destination, you receive a comprehensive report, including all of the documents associated with the delivery and a detailed expense report complete with receipts.

What Areas Do You Cover For A Yacht Delivery?We offer both local and international yacht delivery services. Ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations and customs procedures. Our team is experienced in delivering yachts across various regions, including the Med, North Sea, English Channel, Bay of Biscay, Atlantic Crossings, US East and West Coast, Bahamas and Caribbean.

What Should I Do To Prepare For A Yacht Delivery?Ensure all necessary documents (registration, insurance, etc.) are in order. Ensure the vessel is seaworthy. Ensure the vessel has no remaining obligations to the port of departure. Provide us with any specific instructions or any known issues.

Can I Join My Vessel During the Delivery?We are more than happy to have the owner onboard. An owner-assisted delivery is a great way to get to know a newly purchased vessel and sail with confidence in unfamiliar waters. We highly encourage new vessel owners to participate in at least one leg of the passage.

What Happens If There Is An Issue During The Yacht Delivery?You will receive the captain's phone number and satellite communication details, allowing you to stay in touch 24/7. We maintain constant communication with you, and if any issues arise, we will notify you immediately to discuss the best course of action. Additionally, our captains are highly experienced and well-equipped to handle a wide range of situations that may occur during delivery.

What Does A Yacht Survey Or Inspection Involve?A survey or inspection can vary greatly depending on the scope and the type of survey being asked for. Some examples of areas that might be checked may include: Hull and structure assessment: Checking for any signs of damage or wear. Engine and mechanical systems: Ensuring all systems are functioning correctly. Electrical systems: Verifying the condition of electrical components. Safety equipment: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Valuation: Providing a market value assessment for buying, selling, or insurance purposes.

How Long Does A Yacht Survey Or Inspection Take?The duration of a survey or inspection depends on the size and complexity of the yacht. Generally, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a full day. We provide a detailed report with our findings within 24-48 hours after the inspection.

What Are The Costs Associated With Your Services?Costs depend on the specific service, the size of your yacht, and the scope of work involved. We’re proud to be the only delivery company that makes our rates available online, so feel free to check out our Yacht Delivery Payment Policy to get a rough estimate. For owner-training, owner-support and surveys, we offer personalized quotes based on your unique needs.

What Payment Methods Are Available?At the moment, we only accept bank transfers. We’re working on implementing card payment options. Payment instructions will be included with your invoice. For any special requests, please reach out to us.

Are You insured?Yes, we carry a Company professional liability insurance that covers all aspects of our services. On yacht deliveries, in addition to our insurance, your insurance provider will receive the captain's CV and credentials and will approve them as additionally insured for the proposed passage.
